Clinical Psychologist Ivan Mathieson has commenced private consulting at Melbourne Paediatric Specialists in 2016 and welcomes new referrals
Anxiety Disorders such as Separation Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety, Phobias, Panic Disorder, Agoraphobia, Selective Mutism and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Adolescent mental health and school difficulties.
Ivan has a particular interest in working with teenagers, and in ensuring that the therapeutic space is one that they feel comfortable with.
Ivan Mathieson is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked extensively with children, adolescents and their families in outpatient and inpatient mental health services. He has also worked as the the head of psychological services at one of Melbourne’s prestigious private schools.
In addition to his practice, he has also been involved in teaching postgraduate psychology at La Trobe and RMIT Universities.
Ivan’s therapeutic approach is primarily cognitive behavioural therapy where indicated, also drawing on developmental, psychodynamic and systemic approaches as appropriate. Whilst he focusses on ensuring young people get the most out of his services, he strongly believes in the need for thorough communication with parents.
In addition to therapy, Ivan regularly completes intellectual, educational and developmental (Autism Spectrum) assessments of children and adolescents.
